In 2019, I got a letter in the mail...
...a letter saying I was to be induced, even though I had talked to my provider about how desperately I wanted to go into labor naturally, and had never requested an induction date. I was unable to talk to my provider, and since I assumed my doctor knew best, I showed up for my hospital induction- and ended with a traumatic birth experience where I had no idea what was happening or how to cope: and ended with a birth story that no one should have.
In 2021, my story ended differently.
I had a beautiful + empowering home birth, supported by my midwife, birth photographer, and doula (yes, I had a doula even though I am a doula!).
Whether it’s your first baby + you feel completely unprepared + don’t even know what you don’t know, or you already have kiddos at home but want a different or more supported birth experience this time.
Whether you want your partner to be more involved this time, or need help with coping mechanisms + labor progression. I’ve had the induced, medicated hospital birth AND the unmedicated, natural home birth. I’ve had the traumatic birth experience (which ultimately led me to where I am today) and the empowering, healing birth afterwards.
