Hello! My name is Heidi, and I am so excited to be your birth doula! I was first introduced to the idea of being a doula when I researched doulas after (yes, not before) the birth of my son, Damian. The hospital birth experience that I had was something that I never wanted another woman to go through, and I was passionate about finding a way that I could help empower others to have a positive birth experience.

Soon afterwards, one of my best friends had hired a doula for the birth of her baby, and I was able to see firsthand the difference the support of a doula made. I was so amazed in fact, that the very next day, I decided to attend the International Doula Institute to receive my certification as a Certified Birth Doula!

Before I received my certification, I went to school at Whitworth University and graduated with a B.A. in Spanish Language and Teaching English as a Second Language. Because of my background in Spanish Language, I love that I am able to reach clients who can speak both English and Spanish, so I can support and be an advocate for them in their native language.

My husband and I met in Warsaw, Indiana during high school (he is my high school sweetheart) and we have two children, Damian & Nora. We have recently moved back to the area & have actually started our own homestead! We have goats, ducks, chickens, quail, guineas, dogs, and cats. In my free time I enjoy learning about how to use holistic and natural products, and so far, my favorite things that I have learned to make are homemade essential oil roller blends, soaps, and salves! Besides being a mom, I enjoy reading, taking care of my plants, or going on a hike with our dogs. I can’t wait to meet you!

The Natural Doula philosophy is founded on the belief that birth is about the family completing the life-changing transition that ends with bringing your baby into the world. Mothers should not be taught how to birth, but instead learn about birth. As a doula, I strive to advocate for parents so that they can remain relaxed and in control of their situation as they discuss options, evaluate the situation, and make informed decisions about their own labor and delivery. Birth is a normal, natural experience, and when allowed to function as nature intended without fear, it is a joyful & fulfilling experience. By developing a trust & belief in your birthing body without the mindset of fear, you are naturally able to make the best decisions for you & your baby.
